ALOUD AT CHRISTMAS GOES TO FOUR CONCERTS WITH INCREASED DEMAND

03/10/2012

Aloud At Christmas, the festive treat combining the popularity of the whole Aloud family - Only Men Aloud, Only Boys Aloud and Only Kids Aloud has added yet another date due to popular demand in both North and South Wales.

Tickets are now on sale for a second concert at Wales Millennium Centre on December 30, with the Christmas Eve performance at the same venue sold out, and another selling well at Venue Cymru, Llandudno on December 22. This gives an even greater number of fans the opportunity to enjoy Classical Brit Award winners Only Men Aloud, Britain’s Got Talent finalists Only Boys Aloud, and stars of the Olympic Opening Ceremony, the Wales Millennium Centre / Only Kids Aloud Chorus (tickets on sale from www.orchardentertainment.co.uk / www.wmc.org.uk 02920 636464 and www.venuecymru.co.uk 01492 872000).

Aloud Music Director Tim Rhys Evans said: “It’s lovely that we’re adding more shows due to public demand, and that all three Aloud choirs will take to the stage over Christmas to entertain our fans. These will be special shows, and we can’t wait for them.”

OMA have had one of their busiest summers ever. They claimed their place in history when they performed in the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics to an estimated global TV audience of some four billion people. They also completed a sell-out summer tour, masterminded the opening concert of the National Eisteddfod of Wales with over 400 performers on stage, performed at a series of outdoor summer proms events and all this while mentoring Only Boys Aloud and Only Kids Aloud through a very full summer of rehearsals and performances.

OBA release their debut album on November 19 on Relentless / Sony Records after achieving huge success on ITV1’s hit show Britain’s Got Talent, coming third in the final this year. Following their performance on ITV1’s prime time show Red Or Black on Saturday; the album immediately went to number 1 in the Amazon Movers and Shakers chart after a massive jump of 5,270%.

The Wales Millennium Centre / Only Kids Aloud Chorus is a choral venture put together by the Centre and the Aloud organisation, featuring boys and girls aged between nine and thirteen from all across Wales. The Chorus was formed exclusively for a performance of Mahler: Symphony No 8 at Wales Millennium Centre in April 2012 with one of the most prominent conductors in the world today, Maestro Valery Gergiev and his world renowned Mariinsky Opera company from St Petersburg. Having performed in Cardiff and in Russia, the choir were then invited to perform as part of the London 2012 Olympic Ceremony and Paralympic Flame Festival, watched by millions across the globe.

The album sees the choir marry traditional Welsh songs with an impressive selection of choral versions of more contemporary tracks, including stirring takes on Coldplay’s classic track ‘Paradise’ and Take That’s ‘Never Forget’. A special Christmas edition of the album will also include 6 beautifully arranged versions of traditional festive numbers, including ‘White Christmas’ and ‘Pie Jesu’.
